Our Ingredient Philosophy
We choose ingredients that are:
- Research-supported: Backed by published scientific studies
- Effective: Demonstrated efficacy in clinical research
- Safe: Gentle yet powerful formulations
- Quality: Premium-grade, globally-sourced ingredients
- Purposeful: Every ingredient serves a specific function
Our Commitment to Quality
All YOU SERIES products are:
- Manufactured in the USA: Using premium, globally-sourced ingredients
- GMP Certified: All manufacturers follow Good Manufacturing Practices
- FDA Registered: Produced in FDA-registered facilities
- Quality Tested: Rigorous quality control standards
Our Journey: We're currently partnering with trusted manufacturers to bring you the YOU SERIES. As we grow, we're working toward developing our own proprietary formulations that will give us even greater control over ingredient selection and concentrations. This means we'll be able to eliminate ingredients we don't love (like certain alcohols) and create the absolute best formulas for your skin.
Star Ingredients in the YOU SERIES
Hyaluronic Acid
What it is: A naturally occurring molecule in your skin that acts as a powerful humectant, capable of holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water.
What research shows:
- Provides deep, lasting hydration
- Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Supports skin's natural moisture barrier
- Improves skin texture and smoothness
- Suitable for all skin types, including oily skin
The science: Hyaluronic Acid penetrates multiple layers of skin to deliver hydration where it's needed most. Research shows that as we age, our natural HA levels decline, making supplementation through skincare beneficial for maintaining skin hydration and appearance.
Best for: Hydration, all skin types
Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid)
What it is: A potent antioxidant and essential nutrient that your skin cannot produce on its own.
What research shows:
- Helps brighten skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots
- Supports collagen production
- Provides antioxidant protection against free radical damage
- Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines
- Helps even out skin texture and tone
- Defends against environmental stressors
The science: Vitamin C is one of the most researched skincare ingredients. Studies show it works by neutralizing free radicals, supporting collagen synthesis, and helping to inhibit melanin production for brighter, more even-toned skin appearance.
Best for: Brightening, dull skin, uneven tone
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
What it is: A water-soluble vitamin and one of the most versatile, well-tolerated skincare ingredients available.
What research shows:
- Helps control the appearance of aging and pigmentation
- Provides antioxidant benefits
- Helps support skin's antioxidant capacity
- Provides soothing benefits
- Helps protect against environmental damage
- Helps regulate oil production
- Helps minimize pore appearance
- Strengthens skin barrier
The science: Research shows Niacinamide works at the cellular level to improve skin function. It helps boost ceramide production, provides soothing benefits, and helps protect against environmental damage while being gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Best for: All skin types, especially sensitive, oily, or pigmented skin
Peptides
What they are: Short chains of amino acids that act as building blocks for proteins like collagen, elastin, and keratin.
What research shows:
- Help support skin firmness and elasticity
- Help maintain skin structure appearance
- Support a more youthful appearance
- Support skin's natural processes
- Help improve skin texture and smoothness
The science: Research suggests peptides may help signal skin to support collagen and elastin production, the proteins responsible for keeping skin firm and supple. As we age, our natural production declines, making peptide supplementation potentially valuable for maintaining skin appearance.
Best for: Mature skin, firmness concerns
Supporting Ingredients
Ceramides
Lipids that make up a significant portion of your skin's barrier. They help lock in moisture and protect against environmental damage.
Glycerin
A humectant that draws moisture into the skin and helps maintain hydration levels.
Antioxidants
Including Vitamin E, Green Tea Extract, and Resveratrol - these help protect against free radical damage and environmental stressors.
Botanical Extracts
Carefully selected plant extracts that provide soothing, calming, and additional antioxidant benefits.
What We Avoid (When Possible)
We're intentional about ingredient selection and working toward formulations that exclude:
- Harsh sulfates
- Unnecessary synthetic fragrances
- Parabens
- Phthalates
- Formaldehyde-releasing preservatives
- Pore-clogging mineral oils
A Note on Alcohol: Some of our current formulations contain alcohol as a delivery system or preservative. While we're not fans of drying alcohols, we're committed to transparency. As we develop our own proprietary formulations, we'll have greater control to eliminate ingredients we don't love and create the cleanest, most effective formulas possible.
Ingredient Concentrations Matter
It's not just about WHAT ingredients we use, but HOW MUCH. We work with formulations that contain meaningful levels of active ingredients - not just trace amounts for marketing purposes.
How to Read Ingredient Lists
Ingredients are listed in descending order by concentration. The first 5-7 ingredients typically make up the majority of the formula. Look for active ingredients high on the list, not buried at the bottom.
Active vs Inactive: Active ingredients are the ones providing the primary benefits (like Niacinamide or Vitamin C). Inactive ingredients support the formula (like water, preservatives, and texture enhancers).
Concentration matters: A product with 10% Niacinamide will be more potent than one with 2%, even if both list it as an ingredient.
Ingredient Compatibility
All YOU SERIES products are designed to work together harmoniously. The ingredients are selected to complement each other. You can layer products from the CLEANSE → PREP → TARGET → ELEVATE system.
